Recent results by Wisdom, Avron and Kenneth have shown that a deformable body in a curved space, devoid of any external forces, can nevertheless execute net displacements by cyclically altering its shape. We discuss these results within the more general context of gemetric swimming theory, and work out the swimming equations for a small body in a maximally symmetric three-dimensional space
